During IncLeisure project we had the opportunity of making a study visit to a school that has been working towards changing their playground, getting the most of it to offer diverse options for children to meet, play, and interact with each others during recess time. They are still on process, but getting significant achievements. The CEIP de Barouta is a peri-urban-to-rural school in the Concello de Ames (Galicia) with a playground that offers a lot of green spaces, slopes and flat areas, courts, and lots of room to offer diverse options to diverse preferences. They’ve generated routines for guiding children towards the opportunities they are giving for playing inclusively, reducing conflict and managing diversity.
They provided a clear board where choices for different games are distributed among different playground areas. Children from 5th grade leaded the games in the different areas. So everychild had a peer to ask for doubts, rules, guidance, support…
Definetely we consider they deserve at least the Go! stage for the IncLeisure label!
